Summer, Summer, Summer…

Volunteer and Staff Training

An amazing time was had by all as we spent a Monday digging into God’s Word and wrestling with what ministry looks like at Helping Hands Resale Shoppes.  We were guided through the training Ministry is Relationships by our good friend Bill Allison from Cadre Missionaries and our Go Team Director Steve Waggoner.  28 volunteers and staff from our four ministry locations as well as some of our Small World Connections staff gathered from 10-2 on a Monday to learn and grow together.

Thailand Ministry

Our good friend Michell Booker returned from her trip to Thailand and Poland and gave this awesome report:
I was given the opportunity to return to Thailand for three months, my former home of five years. Some missionary friends invited me to a rural area of northern Thailand that I’d never been, just outside of Phitsanulok. It was there that I served with their church and various ministries while they were on furlough. The ministries included serving in a weekly kids program with around one hundred kids, many of whom have been abused or trafficked. I also got to work with their youth group, community outreach, and speak in the women’s prison. They have now seen about fifty of these Thai women in the prison accept Jesus and be baptized! Their hunger for the word of God and worship was a beautiful reminder of the desperation we all should carry for more of Christ. For many years, Thailand has been known as dry ground for the gospel where Christianity has remained around 1%. On this trip, I spoke with missionaries around the country and they all seemed to agree that something has shifted. The Thai people are more open to the gospel than we’ve ever seen before. Please pray with me that the Lord will continue to draw the people of Thailand to himself, that many more salvations will come in this year alone. I also want to thank Small World Connections and their help in making this trip possible. I believe it takes the entire Church body to see the entire Great Commission fulfilled. Thank you for praying and doing your part in seeing the nations come to Christ.

Volunteers needed:
We have seen a ton of progress already at our new Helping Hands Resale location in Pontiac Illinois, but as you can see there is still a lot left to do. We will be organizing a few work days in August, so please let us know if you would be interested in helping as we put the finishing touches on what God has provided in Pontiac.
